More virtual dog action

This "dog" theme is getting out of hand.

Sony has released the third generation of it's wildly popular Aibo robotic dog. Like the previous models the new Aibo responds to its owners' voices, petting, and local events ... but now adds the ability to keep a diary, learn new rooms and geography on its own, and now "matures" mentally from a puppy to an adult dog over the first year of its digital life. It can also negotiate stairs and will seek out its owners when it is lonely. You can order one now for about 200,000 Yen (about 2,300 smackers U.S.) but be advised - there is already a three month waiting list.
