A number of months ago, it was reported that Nintendo and Palm were in negotiations to license the Palm OS for use on the NIntendo DS - something that seemed to be not-overly-farfetched. The DS offers a natural extension of the Palm hardware, and adding a set of PIM functions to the dual-screen portable would certainly allow the Big N to tap a whole new marketplace.

Did anything ever come of these rumoured negotiations? We'll probably never know - Nintendo has turned their attention elsewhere and has now partnered with a Calgary company to put "natural" handwriting recognition on the DS.

What will they do with this ability? Haven't got a clue. Feel free to chime in with vague and unsupported opinions. The floor, as they say, is open.
