The L.A. Times has officially canned their national edition.

The L.A. Times has officially announced that they are canning their national edition - people in New York and Washington would rather get their west coast news online. This comes hard on the heels of the whispers about the dismal performance of the "national" editions of the New York Times and the Toronto Star. Is this a one-time thing, or a new and permanent wrinkle in the publishing landscape?
