One of the lesser-known features of Twitter is the archiving system – with a couple of clicks and a quick download, you can get a complete archive of every tweet you have ever, er, tweeted. Interested? Do this:
- Fire up your browser and log in to Twitter.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right and select “Settings”
- On the settings page, make sure “Account” is highlighted.
- Scroll all the way down to the “Request your archive” button.
- Click the button
In a couple of minutes you will get an email at the address you have associated with your Twitter account. Follow the link therein and you will be able to download your entire Twitter history as a .zip file. Unpack the file, and open the “index.html” file contained therein, either just by double-clicking it or by dragging it to your web browser. It will open up as a local web page, searchable and organized by year, allowing you to sit back and leisurely browse through all of your fascinating awesomeness.
